In short: People has no server. Everything you add, import or sync is stored only in your own browser on your own device. We never receive, see, sell or share your contacts.
What People is
People is a web app that shows your contacts as a personal dashboard: who you're close to, who you haven't spoken to in a while, and reminders to keep in touch. It runs entirely in your web browser.
What is stored, and where
The following is saved in your browser's local storage on the device you are using, and nowhere else:
The name you ask People to greet you with.
Contacts you add by hand, import from a file (.vcf, Excel or CSV), pick from your phone, share into the app, or sync from Google: names, phone numbers, email addresses, cities, roles and notes.
Things you add yourself: favourites, reminders, "last spoken" dates and private notes.
Your settings, such as your country code.
Files you import are read inside your browser. They are not uploaded anywhere.
Google user data
If you choose Continue with Google, People asks Google for permission to:
Read your Google Contacts (read-only): names, phone numbers, email addresses, addresses, organisations and notes.
See your basic profile: your name and email address, so People can greet you and show which account is connected.
How this data is used:
It is downloaded directly from Google to your browser and used only to show and update your contacts inside People.
It is stored only in your browser on your device. It is never sent to us or to any other server, person or company.
People never changes or deletes anything in your Google account.
It is not used for advertising, sold, or used to train artificial intelligence models.
People's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing your data
Disconnect Google: in People, open Settings and tap Sign out. This revokes People's access. You can also remove access any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Delete contacts: in People, tap Remove all above your people list, or use Settings.
Delete everything: clear this site's data in your browser settings, or uninstall the app.
Cookies and tracking
People does not use cookies for tracking, analytics or advertising. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Children
People is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated.
